Marques, Mirror 1
In 2008, as part of the public commission programme in partnership with the French Ministry of Culture and Communication–CNAP, the City of Le Havre asked Manuela Marques to capture the interiors of the apartments in the centre rebuilt by architect Auguste Perret. After being displayed in the exhibition "Le Havre. Images sur commande", the series joined the Musée Malraux collections.
Two years later, Manuela Marques revisited the shots taken in 2008, and chose this image that differs slightly from the rest. It is like a silent still-life in which the Venetian mirror reflects something slightly blurry outside of the frame like a mise en abyme of reality.
Here, Manuela Marques pursues her reflection on the complex play of gazes and the ricocheting effect to stretch out space, which she had begun with the hallways of the apartments in Le Havre.
